The message of Fatima includes a call to conversion of heart, repentance from sin, and prayer, especially the rosary. This message was conveyed by the Blessed Virgin Mary to three shepherd children – -Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco — in a series of apparitions at Fatima, Portugal, on the 13th day of six consecutive months from May to October 1917. The Portuguese community in Rochester honors Our Lady of Fatima with an annual spiritual procession through the streets of the 19th ward beginning and ending at St. Monica Church.
