ROCHESTER — Young Audiences of Rochester was recognized with a "best practices award" last month from the national Young Audiences organization.
The Rochester affiliate received the award during the Young Audiences Leadership Conference held in Princeton, N.J., for a fundraiser that provided other affiliates with a new approach to outreach.
This past summer, students from Young Audiences of Rochester joined forces with the Rochester Red Wings and the Summer Youth Employment Program to plan, coordinate and present a community celebration of a new program called CypherWORKS. Forty at-risk youths worked as teaching artists/entrepreneurs to help put together the event, which took place during a Red Wings play-offs game to boost awareness of Young Audiences.
