ROCHESTER — Violent crime has steadily decreased in the city for the past 25 years, with the lowest incidences of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assaults, burglary and car theft occurring in 2012, according to information from the Rochester Police Department.
Violent crime, which peaked in 1992 with more than 27,000 incidents, was down to nearly 13,000 last year. The burglary rate, which hit an all-time high in 2010, was down 13 percent to 2,950 cases, police reported.
