ROCHESTER — The Rochester Transit Center will open five months ahead of schedule.
During a Feb. 25 press conference, officials from the Rochester Genesee Regional Transit Authority and the city announced the Nov. 28 opening of the center, which will span a block between North Clinton Avenue and St. Paul Street.
Additionally, those two streets are being converted from one-way to two-way traffic as part of the project to accommodate commuters, officials said.
More than 20,000 customers transfer through downtown each day, according to RGRTA officials. The new 87,000-square-foot building will allow those customers to transfer and wait for buses indoors and replace the stops along Main, St. Paul and Broad streets as well as North Clinton.
