ROCHESTER — The city school district’s board of education has named a superintendent search committee that includes board members, parents and community members representing business, city government and higher education.
The board announced the creation of the ad hoc committee during a press conference held Oct. 25. The committee will report on its progress throughout its search for a replacement for Jean-Claude Brizard, who resigned in April to become superintendent of Chicago city schools. Bolgen Vargas is serving as interim superintendent.
"The selection of a superintendent of schools is one of the most important decisions the board of education will make," said Board President Malik Evans. "In keeping with our promise for robust community involvement and input we have formed a committee that will work to secure the best academic, fiscal and public engagement leader for our district and community."
