ROCHESTER — The Regional Transit Service has revised its transportation plan for Rochester City School District students in partnership with the district to address complaints about student behavior at the new downtown transit center.
The plan puts students from All City, Charlotte, East, Edison, Benjamin Franklin, James Monroe and Northeast/Northwest high schools, School of the Arts and Wilson Commencement Academy on express service in the afternoon. The switch eliminates the need for students to transfer buses at the transit center, according to an RTA press release. The first phase of the plan went into effect March 19.
The second phase, which will begin May 4, will provide express service at dismissal for students who attend Rochester Career Mentoring, World of Inquiry School No. 58, University Prep and Rochester Early College.
District security officials also are collaborating with RTS to improve community safety at the transit center.
