ROCHESTER — The keynote speaker for the 20th-annual Gala & Hispanic Scholarship Recognition Awards will be Carmen Yulín Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The 61 college scholarship recipients who will be recognized for their academic performance and community involvement during the July 11 ceremony at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center represent Monroe, Livingston and Ontario counties, according to information from the Ibero-American Action League. The agency coordinates the scholarship program as well as presents several awards.
The other scholarships are presented by area universities, businesses, organizations and individual donors.
This year’s theme is "You are the key to your future."
