The Rochester Police Department has made changes in its command staff that went into effect this month.
According to information from city officials, Capt. La’Ron Singletary became the department’s deputy chief on Jan. 1, replacing Deputy Chief Wayne Harris, who retired after more than 30 years of service. Singletary will focus on communications, community engagement and recruitment. He also will serve as RPD’s primary public information officer.
In addition, Lt. Fabian Rivera was promoted to commander of RPD’s Special Operations Division, and Lt. Elena Correia is now the commander of the administrative services division. According to city officials Correia is now the highest-ranking women in the department.
