ROCHESTER — The owner of El Pilon Criollo has been named this year’s Hispanic Business Person of the Year by the Rochester Hispanic Business Association.
Librada "Zury" Brown has owned El Pilon, a family restaurant on North Clinton Avenue, since 2008, according to information from the RHBA. The Cataño, Puerto Rico, native previously worked in the Rochester City School District.
She will receive the award during the RHBA’s annual luncheon on Sept. 22 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The luncheon also will recognize Vilma Burgos-Torres as the association’s new board chairperson. She is the second woman to lead the RHBA, according to information from board member Grace Tillinghast.
