Program offers summertime meals

ROCHESTER — Foodlink is accepting applications for its summer meals program, which provided breakfast and lunch to children at more than 50 sites throughout Rochester last year.

The Summer Food Service Program was created to ensure that children in lower-income areas would continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations, according to information on Foodlink’s website. While millions of children throughout the country receive free and reduced-price meals and snacks during the school year, only a fraction of them receive the free meals provided by the Foodlink program during the summer months.

For more information or an application, call Foodlink at 585-328-3380. To apply as a host site, contact Freshwise by e-mail or at 585-254-4423.
