ROCHESTER — Priscilla DeJesús helped organize a fashion show for St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish two years ago that was so successful, parishioners had been clamoring for another.
DeJesús, who oversees visitation of the sick for the parish, said that she decided to combine that idea with a celebration of Hispanic Heritage. And the nearly 100 people who attended the Oct. 18 event at Our Lady of the Americas Church made the event a success, she said.
"I am very, very happy," DeJesús said of the event. "This is the first time we’ve put together this kind of celebration."
She said that the parish came together to make her vision a reality by providing food, helping decorate, and volunteering for and organizing a fashion show and dance entertainment. Flags representing all of the Latin American countries were hung around the room and were provided by Father Bob Werth. He keeps them at St. Michael Church for the annual Festival del Barrio.
