Organizations receive grants

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Women’s Giving Circle awarded grants totaling $145,000 to several nonprofit organizations and programs that support women and girls.

The grants ranged from $5,000 to $25,000 to support programs that promote economic independence for women, according to a press release from the Rochester Area Community Foundation. The mission of the Giving Circle, which is an initiative fund of the Community Foundation, is to help women and girls gain the skills necessary to obtain employment and earn a "living wage."

Award recipients included Borinquen Dance Theatre, Cameron Community Ministries, Catholic Family Center, Judicial Process Commission, the Latina College Recruitment Initiative of the Monroe Community College Foundation and St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center.
