ROCHESTER — Nearly 20 local law enforcement officers were recognized for their many years of service during a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration of the Rochester Latino Rotary Club.
The officers were recognized during a Sept. 10 Rotary dinner, said Abraham Hernández, club president. It was the first of what the club plans to make an annual recognition of the contributions of the officers, he added.
State Trooper José Vázquez received a special honor for 30 years on patrol. He currently is supervisor of the state police’s Operation IMPACT.
Four Monroe County sheriff’s officers also were recognized: Sergeant Patricio Rojas, Deputy Sonia Medina, Deputy Tomas Vázquez and Deputy John Crespo. The others were from the Rochester Police Department: Sgt. Fabián Rivera and Sgt. Nelson Soto, and Officers Carlos Alvarado, Carlos DeJesús, Bernnie García, Augustín González, José Muñoz, Manuel Ortiz, Carlos Rodríguez, Michael Santana, Albert Santiago, Ángel Vázquez and Danny Santiago.
