ROCHESTER — Two city high school seniors were named queen and princess during this year’s Miss Puerto Rico of Rochester pageant.
Heidilis Robles, 17, who attends James Monroe High School, was crowned queen during the June 21 event at the Rochester Museum and Science Center, said Juana Santos, the pageant coordinator. Seventeen-year-old Amaralis Rivera, who is this year’s princess, attends Charlotte High School.
Both will take part in the 45th-annual Puerto Rican Festival, to be held Aug. 1-3 at Frontier Field, and the 10th-annual Puerto Rican Parade that will march through downtown on Aug. 2.
Pageant contestants must be of Puerto Rican descent and between the ages of 14 and 17. They also must maintain at least a B average in school. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/MissPuertoRicoOfRoc.
