Lupus alliance offers scholarships

The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York offers an annual scholarship program in each of its four regions for students affected by the disease.

The alliance’s Genesee Valley region covers Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties, according to information on its website (lupusupstateny.org/services).

In addition to being residents of one of these counties, applicants also must:

* have lupus or be the child of a person with lupus;

* be a full-time, registered student at a college or university with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for two semesters;

* write an essay (1,000 words or fewer) about why the student should receive the scholarship; and

* provide a letter of recommendation from someone who is not a family member.

Applications must be submitted by Feb. 29. For more information or an application form, visit lupusupstateny.org/services.
