Leaders of the "One Nation Working Together" movement are calling on people throughout the country to join a national march in Washington, D.C., this fall.
More than 150 organizations, including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and the National Council of La Raza, have joined the movement and pledged to march on Oct. 2.
Rally organizers are expecting hundreds of thousands of people, including union members from the Rochester area, to march in support of funding for quality health care and schools for all Americans, the creation of more jobs, the development of clean and safe renewable energy as well as more jobs in that industry, and political unity on such issues as comprehensive immigration reform and civil and labor rights.
