Latinas Unidas is presenting its annual event that encourages girls to be proud of their ethnic identity and cultural heritage.
The 19th-annual ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! rally will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at Roberts Wesleyan University in Chili. This year’s rally is titled “Earth and Me.”
The event will include breakfast and lunch, T-shirts, goodie bags, and hands-on activities. There also will be a quinceañera fashion show featuring previous quinceañeras who will share their rite-of-passage stories and their academic and career goals.
Girls under 13 must be accompanied by female adults or guardians. Those attending with girls 13 or younger will have the opportunity to attend parent-focused workshops. There also will be a mini-expo with local agencies and organizations offering parents information about available programs and resources.
