ROCHESTER — The city has issued a request for proposals for the sale and development of land for commercial and other uses to transform a section of the 800 block of North Clinton Avenue into La Marketa urban village.
The Hispanic population is the fastest growing constituency in the city of Rochester, and the project will promote the Latino culture while also creating more jobs and better educational opportunities, according to information from Mayor Lovely Warren’s office. City and community leaders have developed a vision for La Marketa on La Avenida as a thriving center of culture, cuisine, services, goods and public spaces through the sale and development of the 1.7 acre parcel, according to the mayor’s office.
The next step in realizing the vision is the call for proposals to create small business development, commercial opportunities and permanent jobs in the area.
The deadline for proposals is March 4. For more information on the request for proposals, visit cityofrochester.gov/lamarketarfp. To learn more about the redevelopment of La Marketa land, read the July 2016 El Mensajero Católico article at http://bit.ly/2i1q8IW.
