Kimmily Lopez wins pageant

ROCHESTER — A James Monroe High School student was crowned Miss Puerto Rico of Rochester during the 2010 pageant held July 10 at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

"I feel great," Kimmily Lopez, 16, said after being crowned the pageant queen. "Very proud, I can’t even speak. Todo se puede en Cristo con la fortaleza."

Kimmily, who hopes to become a teacher, also received the cultural-expression award presented by El Mensajero Católico.

Franchesca Colón, who attends the International School of Finance at Benjamin Franklin High School, was runner-up and will serve as this year’s princess.

"I feel so excited," Franchesca said. "I never thought I would be here."
