Job programs seek applicants

ROCHESTER — The Summer of Opportunity Program and the RochesterWorks! Summer Youth Employment Program are seeking applicants for job-training and employment.

The programs offer summerlong job readiness training, career exploration and employment opportunities for youths who are enrolled in middle school, high school or for those pursuing their high-school equivalency diploma.

Interested youths may apply online for both programs until March 19. Additional documentation, including copies of work permits, report cards and photo identification, must be submitted to the Recreation Administration Office at 400 Dewey Ave. by March 24. The printed application must be signed by a parent and school counselor.

Youths who meet the requirements will go on to interviews for paid summer jobs. Past employers have included the city of Rochester, community organizations, colleges and local businesses.
