Individuals, projects recognized for their positive effects

ROCHESTER — The Community Design Center Rochester presented its sixth-annual Reshaping Rochester Awards last month.

The awards recognize individuals and projects that are making a positive impact on the Rochester community.

During the Nov. 17 ceremony, Buckingham Properties and Morgan Management received the Robert Macon Award for Urban Innovation for their redevelopment of Midtown Plaza in downtown Rochester. Rochester Institute of Technology also was recognized for adapting a floor of the former Rochester Savings Bank building to create the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship.

Theresa Bowick received the Betty Strasenburgh Award for Activism. She created Conkey Cruisers as a neighborhood bicycling program in the Conkey Avenue area several years ago to boost fitness and provide positive activities for children and families.
