Ibero collecting donations for asylum seekers in Monroe County

Ibero-American Action League and Foodlink have joined forces to collect donations for asylum seekers who recently arrived in Monroe County.

Clothing, baby/kids products, toiletries/hygiene products, luggage, pre-paid cellphones and gift cards can be dropped off at the Ibero Community Resource Center, 216 Clifford Ave., Rochester, or at the back entrance of Ibero’s main office (Planet Aid White Box), 124 Evergreen St., Rochester.

In addition, the United Way of Greater Rochester is collecting monetary donations to support a network of community-based organizations providing essential resources and services to the asylum seekers. Click here to donate.

Last week, 77 asylum seekers arrived at the Holiday Inn in downtown Rochester from New York City. The group included families with children. More asylum seekers are set to arrive in Monroe County in the coming days.
