The city of Rochester recently announced a new online application for Freedom of Information Law requests.
The new system will allow for faster response times to FOIL requests, city officials stated. It also is the first phase of a project to be completed over several years to create a central repository for city records, according to a press release from Mayor Lovely Warren’s office.
The city’s Communications Bureau receives about 4,000 FOIL applications annually, most commonly for police motor vehicle accident and crime reports. Other commonly requested records are fire reports, property and environmental information, and finance and purchasing data.
The new application is available at cityofrochester.gov/FOIL.
