Events feature Food Network chef

ROCHESTER — Chef Daisy Martínez, whose show "Viva Daisy" airs on the Food Network, will return to Rochester for two Latinas Unidas events.

First, Martínez attended the annual "¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina" rally for girls last year, which is being held March 19. The theme of this year’s event, which is designed for girls who are ages 7 to 18, is "Living Healthy and Healthy Choices." The rally will take place at the University of Rochester.

On March 25 at East High School, Martínez will serve as a judge for an "Iron Chef"-style competition. Six students from the school’s Academy of Business, Finance, and Management Hospitality and Tourism will compete for a full scholarship to Monroe Community College’s culinary program. She will also be on hand for a fundraiser March 26 at Genesee Valley Club for scholarships given out by Latinas Unidas.

Tickets are $30 for Iron Chef and include sampling of the students’ dishes as well as a signed book from Martínez. For more information, call 585-288-3130 ext. 6261 or visit http://latinasunidas.org. For more information about the scholarship fundraiser, call 585-256-8900.
