Dance theater founder honored

ROCHESTER — Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez, founder and artistic director of Borinquen Dance Theatre, was among nine "Women of Distinction" honored during a Girl Scouts of Western New York awards ceremony last month.

 

Padilla-Rodriguez was honored for her contributions to local arts and humanities during the ceremony on Sept. 15 at Radisson Rochester Riverside hotel. A complete list of honorees may be found at www.gswny.org/Programs/WOD/.

America Ferrera, known for portraying the lead role in the TV show "Ugly Betty," was the keynote speaker. Prior to the ceremony, Ferrera led a forum with local Girl Scouts about the issue of healthy body images.
