Cruz resigns form Ibero post

ROCHESTER — School board member José Cruz has resigned from his position at Ibero-American Action League.

Cruz, who is running against Assemblyman David Gantt in the Democratic primary in September for the newly created 137th district, confirmed that he stepped down last month as Ibero’s chief operations officer because of an ethics complaint.

He did not know who made the complaint, Cruz added, which stems from a vote cast earlier this year in support of Ibero’s participation in a tutoring program overseen by the district. An investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, according to local news reports.
