ROCHESTER — Construction has begun on El Camino Estates, a subdivision of 25 single-family homes in northeast Rochester.
The affordable-housing project was developed by the Ibero-American Development Corp. (IADC) in partnership with Rochester’s Cornerstone Group. Twenty-four new homes will be built and one will be refurbished on Conkey Avenue in the neighborhood bordered by Harris, Woodford and Nelson streets.
IADC also rehabilitates HUD houses that are then sold to qualifying families in collaboration with the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership.
Seven of the housing lots will border a new pedestrian trail being developed by the Genesee Land Trust. Project officials that said the goal is to spur neighborhood development in the area.
The houses will be leased to families who earn less than 50 percent of the area’s median household income. Applications are being accepted at the IADC office at 954 Clifford Ave. For more information, call 585-467-6410 or visit www.iberodevelopment.org/divisions/iadc/index.html.
