Dog owners in Rochester have a new place to bring their dogs for recreation.
City officials cut the ribbon July 13 for the opening of the city’s first dog park at Cobbs Hill Park, according to a press release.
The new City Dog Park is located on Norris Drive, immediately east of the softball diamonds at Cobbs Hill. The dog park will be open from dawn to dusk. Amenities include separate areas for large and small dogs, fire hydrants, benches, shade trees and water. Pet owners will have the responsibility of keeping the park safe and clean, city officials said.
During the dog park’s pilot period, which runs through the end of the year, only city residents with a licensed dog will be able to register to use the park. Residents will not be charged a permit fee during the pilot period.
