A $1.7 million grant from New York state’s Homeless Housing and Assistance Program will help Rochester’s Catholic Family Center improve services offered by Sanctuary House.
Sanctuary House serves women or women with children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, according to information from CFC. In 2015, CFC’s program helped provide shelter for a portion of the more than 7,455 families and individuals who were in need of emergency housing, according to agency officials.
Additionally, CFC recently reopened Place of Hope, formerly Women’s Place, which is expected to provide safe emergency shelter for up to 19 families, including men.
