Latin American, North American, Caribbean and African cultures were on display April 26 during “Barakoa: The African Masquerade,” a celebration of many different dance and costume traditions. The masquerade, which was held at Rochester Institute of Technology, included performances by Latinos de Corazon, Grupo Cultural Latinos en Rochester, the Avenue D Afro-Latino Dance Group and FuturePointe Dance, among others. Many participants donned elaborate masks and costumes they made themselves during 2014 workshops led by the Baobab Cultural Center.
