Annual Rochester 5K race honors Latino soldiers

Runners gathered in Rochester’s Seneca Park June 22 to compete in the 10th-annual SSGT Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K Race and Fitness Walk. Originally a fundraiser for the Puerto Rican Festival, the event was renamed in 2011 to honor a local Marine who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in November 2010. The race now serves to honor all Latino soldiers and to promote wellness.
