ROCHESTER — Beginning this month, the Rochester Central Library and select branches around the city will offer residents one-on-one assistance in enrolling or renewing health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
Through the end of January, residents can apply for or renew coverage through New York state’s online Health Insurance Marketplace with assistance from HealthCare Navigators from LawNY, Fidelis Care, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield and Coordinated Care Services Inc., according to information from city officials.
Navigators will provide assistance in multiple languages. Those looking for assistance in enrolling are asked to bring current income documents such as pay stubs for the past two months. No appointment is necessary.
Open enrollment for 2018 coverage began Nov. 1, 2017, and ends Jan. 31, 2018. Residents must enroll by Dec. 15 to ensure coverage by Jan. 1, 2018.
Navigators will be at select libraries on the following dates:
• Central Library, 115 South Ave.: noon to 6 p.m., third-floor Health Section, Nov. 29; Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27; and Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
• Lyell Branch Library, 956 Lyell Ave.: 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 and 13, and Jan. 3 and 23
• Phillis Wheatley Library, 33 Samuel McCree Way: 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 29, Dec. 6, and Jan 5 and 31.
• Lincoln Branch Library, 851 Joseph Ave.: 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 22, Dec. 20, and Jan. 10 and 17; Spanish-speaking navigators available.
• Sully Branch Library, 530 Webster Ave.: 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 27 and Jan. 24.
• Winton Branch Library, 611 N. Winton Road: 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 16 and Jan. 18.
