Migrant ministry training program offered

LYONS — Church leaders interested in creating or expanding their migrant ministry outreach may register for a one-year pilgrimage that will begin next month and will be led by Rural & Migrant Ministry.

The interfaith training program, "Building Bridges: A Pilgrimage," is being offered in partnership with Catholic Family Center beginning July 14 with a retreat at the Liturgia Rural Workers Education Center, according to information from Rural & Migrant Ministry. The nonprofit organization operates the center as part of its work to support migrant workers, foster community leaders and empower immigrant youths.

Each participating church must register two members to undergo the training. Churches also must commit to developing or enhancing outreach programs for its immigrant communities. The fee for the training is $50 per church or congregation.
