ROCHESTER — The annual Festival del Barrio kicked off with a procession of flags and an outdoor prayer service last month at St. Michael Church.
The three-day festival, organized by St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, also included live music from such bands as Calle Uno and Pleneros D’Borikén.
More than 100 people attended the prayer service, during which city officials declared Aug. 31 "Festival del Barrio" day. The service was followed by a potluck dinner at the church hall with food donated by the parishioners.
