Bishop Salvatore R. Matano is inviting all priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Rochester to a diocesan Mass of Thanksgiving for Pope Leo XIV.
The Mass will be celebrated May 19 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester.
The Mass is an opportunity for the diocese to thank God for Pope Leo XIV, the 266th successor to St. Peter, as well as to express devotion and prayerful support as he begins his pontificate.
Pope Leo, the first U.S.-born pontiff, was elected May 8, the second day of the papal conclave.
