Business group to survey its members

ROCHESTER — Members of the Rochester Hispanic Business Association will receive a survey in the new year to find out how the organization can better serve them.

The survey was announced during RHBA’s annual "Holiday Networking Event," held Dec. 3 at the East Ave Inn & Suites, and was attended by more than 20 people.

Vilma Burgos Torres, the association’s chairwoman, said that the event provides an opportunity for members to meet and get to know each other better as well as interact with board members. Several raffle prizes also were given out during the festivities.

"You learn so much better when we’re face to face," she added. "Texting is good. E-mailing is good. But I really like face-to-face conversations with people I admire."

Lisa DeVinney, who is board treasurer and heads up the event committee, said that networking is one of the benefits of membership. The survey also will help the board hear from the members on what kinds of other activities or information they would like to receive from RHBA.

"We want to find ways to better serve our members," she said.
