Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren kicked off a “Summer Stars – Summer Learning Challenge” last month at city libraries and R-Centers with a theme of “Libraries Rock!”
The Summer Learning Challenge “Libraries Rock!” log book is available at the R-Centers and Rochester Public Libraries, according to information from city officials. Children can complete activities listed in the log book and check them off on their game boards, and completed boards can be returned to any Rochester Public Library branch to be entered to win prizes. The last day to turn in completed game boards is Aug. 17, and prizes will be drawn Aug. 20 and must be claimed by Aug. 31.
The libraries will offer a series of events this summer including hands-on STEM challenges and African drumming. The R-Centers provide a variety of activities in science, technology, sports and creative arts.
