ROCHESTER — The Rochester City School District is asking for feedback on a revised code of conduct for its students.
The new code was developed by the Rochester Community Task Force on School Climate — a collaboration that includes teachers, school administrators, parents, students, nonprofit leaders and community representatives, according to information from Superintendent Bolgen Vargas’ office.
The task force has proposed language that is simpler than the current code of conduct. It would require students to behave appropriately in a way that is less punitive and more supportive of students, with suspensions issued as a last resort.
All district stakeholders — students, teachers, families, school leaders and the community at large — are asked to provide input on what constitutes proper behavior and what the consequences should be for poor behavior.
