Education initiatives to be examined

Local educational leaders will meet this month to report progress on initiatives that were developed during a Latino Education Summit last spring.

The Nov. 30 "Acción y Excelencia" (Action and Excellence) session will again take place at Nazareth College. Last spring’s summit was organized to address the low graduation rates that continue to plague the Latino community.

The Rochester City School District has partnered with the Center for Disproportionality at New York University to help develop strategies to reduce those rates, and teams will present implementation plans to reduce the achievement gap of Latino students in the district.
