The Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a fundraising event.
The event, which will feature appetizers and a cash bar, will take place Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at La Luna, 60 Browns Race, Rochester.

EMHCS opened in 2000 for students in grades kindergarten through second. It currently serves more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade in three buildings throughout the City of Rochester. The elementary school is located on Zimbrich Street, the junior high is located on Joseph Avenue and the high school is located at the Kodak Campus on State Street.
The charter school broke ground last fall for a new high school and gymnasium on Joseph Avenue next to the existing junior-high school, which is on the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church campus. The new school is expected to open in the fall of 2026.
EMHCS is the longest-running charter school in Monroe County.
