Rochester’s 10th annual Fringe Festival will include three events hosted at The International Market located on 828 N. Clinton Ave. This year’s 2021 festival will run from Sept. 14-25, coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Month, with free events throughout the city.
“We are really excited to celebrate this Fiesta as part of Fringe for the first time, with great live entertainment at no cost to the public, while connecting visitors with residents and local performers,” said Jessica Del Valle, site manager.
Events will take place at the plaza on the following dates:
Hispanic Heritage Month’s Opening Celebration
Sept. 16 from 5-6 p.m.
The celebration will feature music by the Latin jazz ensembleMambo Kings. Additionally, there will be a costume parade presented by Grupo Cultural Latinos en Rochester as well as a special presentation on the history of Rochester’s Latino community by Julio Saenz, Ibero’s chief program officer.
Sept. 19 from 1-5 p.m.
This event will celebrate the country of Brazil with musical entertainment provided by Rosa Boemia, Forró Estrelas Do Norte and the Brazilian Drumming Ensemble.
Global Beats at The International Plaza
Sept. 23 from 5-8 p.m.
An interactive drumming experience led by local experts with performances by such groups as the Borinquen Dance Academy and Womba Africa Drumming and Dance.
According to Del Valle, the venue will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with “Fiesta en la Plaza” during its Market Days each Sunday until the season closes Oct. 17.
