Rural & Migrant Ministry Inc. will host a Farmworker Celebration & Walk from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at Asbury First Methodist Church, 1050 East Ave. in Rochester.
This event, cohosted by RMM’s Justice Organization of Youth, will raise funds to support youths, rural women and farmworkers across New York state.
According to RMM’s mission statement, the organization “works for the creation of a just, rural New York State through nurturing leadership, changing unjust systems and structures, and standing with the disenfranchised, especially farmworkers and rural workers.” RMM has relationships with several faith communities in New York state, including the Diocese of Rochester.
Tickets for the lunch and program are $75 each, and the walk is free.
A Justice Organization of Youth, Fringe Fest, Theater of the Oppressed performance also is free and will take place from 3:45 to 5 p.m. at First Universalist Church, 150 .S Clinton Ave., Rochester.
