The Red Wings, Rochester’s Triple-A Minor League Baseball team, will transform into the Cocos Locos De Rochester for three games this summer as part of Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión Program.
Cocos Locos will take the field June 14 at 6:45 p.m.; July 9 at 1:05 p.m. and Sept. 1 at 6:45 p.m. at Innovative Field (formerly known as Frontier Field).
The team’s name derives from the popular Coco Loco rum-based beverage enjoyed throughout the Caribbean Islands and typically served in a coconut. When the Cocos Locos play, there also will be music, dancing and food at Innovative Field in celebration of Latino cultures.
Copa de la Diversión, or “Fun Cup,” which began in 2017, is designed to embrace the culture and values of local Latino communities. In 2023, 90 Minor League Baseball teams will be participating in the program.
