Each year, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Here is a list of upcoming 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month events throughout the Rochester area:
Sept. 13
Hispanic Heritage Block Party — A Celebrate of La Cultura
Kickoff begins at Monroe County Government Office, 39 W. Main St. People will march to Rochester City Hall, 30 Church St.
3 p.m.; march begins at 4 p.m.
This free event features food from City of Rochester vendors, live music from Banda Light and special performances by the Rochester Latino Theatre Co.
Sept. 14
Irondequoit’s Hispanic Heritage Festival
Town Hall Farmers Market Building
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature music, artwork displays, food trucks, a bilingual storytime at 1 p.m. and a performance by the Mambo Kings between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester Visual Exhibition
Central Library of Rochester, Children’s Room

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday, Sept. 15-Oct. 15
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at The Strong
1 Manhattan Square Drive, Rochester
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be an interactive musical story time in the Paychex Theater with The Rochester Latino Theatre Co. Chef Ronaldo will present cooking demonstrations provided by the American Dairy Association. RIT’s Latin American Student Association will host a game of Loteria.
Kickoff for Hispanic Heritage Month and Fringe Festival
The International Plaza, 828 N. Clinton Ave., Rochester
Noon to 6 p.m.
The event will include a community recognition of Marcos Santiago, a salsa competition, live music by Naomi, Orq. Antonetti, Orq. La Muralla and DJ Julio Pabony.

Rochester Hispanic Business Association’s Hispanic Business Person of the Year Gala Luncheon

Hispanic Heritage Link Gallery Opening Reception

The evening will feature the work of Hispanic artists.
Sept. 26
Second-Annual Latino Philanthropy Day — Celebrity Bartending Fundraiser
Elevated Sol, 30 W. Broad St. LL01, Rochester
5:30 p.m.
Local Latino leaders and executives will mix drinks for charity, with proceeds benefiting the United Way’s Circulo Latino. The evening will include music, hosted by Franco, at the newly reimagined Elevated Sol, located on the lower level of The Rockford.
Sept. 27
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Casa Hispana
Nazareth University’s Casa Hispana, Multi Purpose Room, 4245 East Ave., Pittsford
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The evening will feature a variety of activities, including music, dance, traditional food and exhibitions that highlight the diversity and cultural richness of local Hispanic communities.

Hispanic Heritage Musical Performance — Opera in the City
Rochester City Hall Atrium, 30 Church St., Rochester
Noon
There will be a special operatic performance of “Lengua Materna” taking place in the atrium of Rochester City Hall.

Hispanic Heritage Month Movie and Discussion
Ogden Farmers’ Library
1 p.m. discussion; 1:30 p.m. movie
Diana Kleps, a multicultural leader who is passionate about equity and inclusion, will lead a discussion starting at 1 p.m. Then the movie “Into the Heights” will be shown. Registration is required at https://calendar.libraryweb.org/event/13083493.
Oct. 6
Hispanic Heritage Celebration Day @ the MAG
500 University Ave., Rochester
Noon to 5 p.m.
There will be community and cultural tables, live dances and music, performances and presentations around Hispanic culture. There also will be storytelling, arts and crafts, a youth performance and more. This year’s spotlight country is Peru, and the theme is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future.”
fivebyfive presents “Fantastical Stories/Historias Fantásticas”
Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth St., Rochester
6 p.m.
“Fantastical Stories/Historias Fantásticas” features performances from chamber ensemble fivebyfive, as well as musicians from Society for New Music. The program will focus on Latin American themes.
