Rochester’s Ibero-American Action League, in collaboration with Planet Aid, celebrated a decade of warmth and community support during the 10th-Annual Coat Giveaway, which took place at Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School Nov. 12.
According to a Nov. 17 press release from Planet Aid — a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used clothing and shoes — more than 730 gently used coats were distributed during the event. In addition, more than 800 hot meals were served, and community organizations were present to provide those in attendance with information on health-care resources.
“The 10th-Annual Coat Giveaway represents a decade of unwavering commitment to supporting our community members in need,” Planet Aid President and CEO Fred Olsson said in the press release. “We are deeply grateful for the collaboration with the Ibero-American Action League, the Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School and all the participating organizations that helped make this event a tremendous success.”
