The number of Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise contracts with state agencies increased by 25 percent over the past year.
The increase represents about $2 billion in state contracts and nears the 30 percent rate that Gov. Andrew Cuomo has set as a goal, according to information from the governor’s office.
This fall, the governor also launched a statewide Mentor-Protégé Program to facilitate long-term relationships between MWBEs and prime contractors. Through the program, protégés will receive technical training and experience to continue expanding their access to state contracts.
