Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren names new recreation commissioner

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has appointed the former president of the ARC of Yates as the city’s commissioner for the Department of Recreation and Youth Services.

The appointment of Daniele Lyman-Torres was effective March 1 pending confirmation from City Council, according to information from city officials.

At the Arc of Yates, Lyman-Torres oversaw an organization that provides a wide range of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She previously served as the chief operating officer of Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority, the senior vice president and chief operating officer of Trillium Health, regional director of the United Way of Greater Rochester, and head of Human Resources and Organizational Development at Heritage Christian Services.

She is a board member at Lakeview Health Services and the Collaborative of the Finger Lakes, and is board chairwoman of the Greater Rochester American Heart Association Circle of Red. She has received the Rochester Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award and the Roc City Rising Emerging Leader Award

Lyman-Torres earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College and is pursuing her doctorate in executive leadership at St. John Fisher College.
