RHBA scholarships available for EMT course

The Rochester Hispanic Business Association will award two scholarships to Hispanic students who enroll in the emergency medical technician course at Monroe Community College.

The $650 awards will cover half the cost of the training, according to information provided by Grace Tillinghast, the RHBA chairwoman.

Upon completion of the 12-week course, students receive certification from the New York State Health Department as well as six college-credit hours that can be applied to other programs, such as an associate’s degree in paramedics, she said. The next available course is a summer session that begins in May.

Students must be 18 years old to apply. For more information, contact Lauri Ruiz at 585-753-3716 or lruiz9@monroecc.edu, or Sue Morono at 585-753-3711 or smorono@monroecc.edu.
