Nonprofit organizations receive grants

ROCHESTER -- The Rochester Women’s Giving Circle awarded $175,000 to nine nonprofit organizations at the group’s annual grant breakfast last month.

The Giving Circle provides grants to organizations in Monroe County that help women and girls gain the education and skills they need to earn a living wage, according to information from the Rochester Area Community Foundation. The group falls under the foundation's umbrella and has donated $947,812 to local organizations since its founding in 2007. This year’s nine recipients were chosen from 30 proposals.

The grants ranged from $2,100 to $25,000. The recipients included Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Borinquen Dance Theatre, Cameron Community Ministries and the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection.
